I am originally from Ohio, and everyone I knew growing up agreed that our local convenience store chain, Lawson, had the best chip dip. I don't think I have gotten the Lawson dip exactly right but this is as close as I can get. (Bizarrely, although I thought the chain was long out of business, I saw multiple Lawson stores during a recent trip to Tokyo. They did not have chip dip.)
- 1/3 c sour cream
- 2 t mayonnaise
- 1 T fresh or 1/2 t dried dill
- 1 t dried chives
- 1/4 t dried oregano
- 1/2 t onion powder
- 1/2 t salt
Mix all ingredients together in a small bowl.
If you have time, let the dip chill for 30 minutes to mingle the flavors. You can also serve it directly but the herbs will be less 'outspoken'.
Serve with chips or cruditees.
