Homemade chocolate milk
This is the drink to serve by the hearth when the kids (and grown-ups) come in from a day of play in the snow. For bonus points, keep mini-marshmallows on hand.
- 1 c milk
- 3 heaping t cocoa powder
- 1/4 c sugar
Mix sugar and cocoa together in a small bowl.
Pour milk into small saucepan. Add sugar and cocoa slowly with vigorous stirring, to avoid lumps.
Turn on heat to medium-low and cook until nearly boiling.
Serve hot or cold.
If you pour the milk while hot into a sterile (fresh from dishwasher is okay) glass jar or bottle it should keep refrigerated for another week. (By heating you re-Pasteurize the milk.)
