The best part of this dish might just be the smell in the house while the apples bake. But the combination of hot apples and melty vanilla ice cream lives up to the expectations the smell creates!
- 2 or more slightly tart apples
- per 2 apples:
- 1 t butter
- 2 t sugar
- 1/8 t cinnamon
Preheat oven to 350 F.
Core apples with an apple corer, or if you don’t have an apple corer quarter them and remove the center part. I prefer the apples peeled, but you can also leave on the peel if you like.
Stir together sugar, cinnamon, and cloves.
Fill center of cored apples with spice mixture, or toss with quartered apples.
Place apples into an oven-safe dish. Dot with butter. Bake 45 minutes, until apples are soft and there is no remaining liquid in the pan.
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or vanilla sauce.
