Elegant vanilla-pear tart
The real star baker in our house is 10 years old, and this is one of his specialties. (When it comes to this tart, he also happens to be the star eater.)
Course: Dessert, Snack
Cuisine: American, French
- 3 ripe pears
- 1 rectangle of puff pastry 6x9 inches
- 2 T butter
- 2 T sugar
- 1/2 t vanilla
Pre-heat oven to 400F.
Roll out the puff pastry onto a baking-paper-lined baking sheet.
Peel and core the pears, then slice them in 1/4 inch slices.
Melt butter in microwave approximately 1 minute. Mix sugar and vanilla into butter. Brush half of butter mixture over puff pastry.
Lay pear slices, with the narrow end inward, in an alternating pattern along the length of the pastry.
Brush pears with remaining butter mixture.
Bake 18-20 minutes, until pears are soft and edges of pastry are darkening.
