To make easy smoothies, chop leftover fruit in small cubes and freeze it in a single layer inside of a freezer bag. Later, break the frozen fruit apart (in case pieces have stuck together) and blend with apple juice, orange juice, or another juice. I use 1/2-3/4 cup of juice and 1 cup of frozen fruit for a thick smoothie. Fruits that work particularly well in smoothies are bananas, mangoes, kiwis, strawberries and blueberries.

  • Berry boost: 1/2 frozen banana 1/3 c blueberry, 1/4 c frozen strawberry, 1/2 c apple juice
  • Tropical: 1/2 frozen banana 1/2 c frozen mango, 1 fresh kiwi, 3/4 c orange or pineapple juice
  • Orange treat: 1/2 raw carrot 1/2 c frozen mango, 1/2 c orange juice, 1 t fresh ginger
  1. Blend all ingredients together until smooth.
