We had this traditional Turkish drink during a food tour in Istanbul. It's fun to make with kids and offers an elegant alternative to standard lemonade!

  • 12 rose petals red or pink
  • 7 T white sugar
  • 2 T fresh lemon juice from half a lemon
  • 2 c warm water
  1. Place rose petals and white sugar in a bowl and crush the rose petals with the sugar using your fingers.
  2. Transfer to a pitcher, pour warm water over and stir to dissolve sugar.
  3. Add lemon juice and refrigerate overnight.
  4. Serve over ice.
Recipe Notes

At the risk of stating the obvious: for the best rose flavor start with very aromatic roses.
